Living at The Somerset Care Centre in Somerset West offers you plenty of nearby points of interest to explore. What’s more, we have a van and a dedicated driver ready to take you wherever you’d like to go. And to make everything even better, our caring staff are always close by to lend a hand whenever you need support.

One of the most popular wine farms, Vergelegen Wine Estate, is just around the corner, and we decided to take our residents out to explore this beautiful, old Estate.

.

All settled and ready to hit the road!

Founded on 1 February 1700, Vergelegen (meaning “situated far away”) has been under the ownership of some of the world’s great explorers and visionaries, each of whom, in their own way, has helped shape Vergelegen to what it is today: a world-class Estate.

No matter what time of the year you visit Vergelegen, there’s always something interesting to see, and visitors have the opportunity to meander through 18 unique gardens.

.

Although we couldn’t visit all 18 gardens, our residents truly enjoyed the beautiful scenery and learning about the estate’s rich history that spans over 300 years.

Of course, we made time to rest!

Not only do we explore nearby places of interest, but we are also lucky to receive visitors frequently. Recently, PAT (Pets as Therapy) visited us at The Somerset Care Centre. To view the album, please click here.
