Recently, at The Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village in Somerset West, MacCare hosted an information session on Parkinson’s Disease and Neurocognitive Disorders (dementia).

Two local specialists – Audrey Mallett (a physiotherapist with a special interest in neurobiological conditions, such as Parkinson’s and Stroke) and Madre Fraenkel (an occupational therapist who works as an independent dementia consultant) led the discussion.

We are committed to supporting our residents to remain as independent as possible, and to ‘Age in (the right) Place. This multidisciplinary team approach helps create a culture where our residents know they will be supported and cared for – and treated with respect and dignity – whatever challenges they may face.

Sister Janutsch received an email thanking her for organising ‘the incredibly interesting and pertinent presentations’, and that ‘It makes us both glad we moved here and confident for the future’.
