One of the reasons we’re so in love with cupcakes is the prettiness factor. It seems there are more beautiful designs for them every day. It’s hard to resist a dessert that’s pretty and delicious. It could be a basic swirl of icing or a more intricate design. They may not turn out exactly like the pro’s but they’re still a lot of fun to make.

At MacCare at The Somerset Care Centre in Somerset West, some of our ladies enjoyed making cupcakes. This simple activity brought back memories and stimulated engagement. Everyone had an opportunity to participate in measuring, mixing, icing or decorating. All of our ladies are mothers and one of them use to be a baker, so cupcakes were a part of their lives!

We are not sure that we would have won any cake decorating competitions, but afternoon tea was a great success!

The Somerset Care Centre is a new, purpose-built facility in Somerset West, located within the prestigious Lifestyle and Retirement Village – The Somerset.
